Introduction to High-frequency Amplifier Design

This set of notes introduces some fundamental concepts which will be used in the analysis and design of high-frequency networks. These concepts are most useful at those frequencies where distributed rather than lumped parameters must be considered. We discuss transmission line, microstrips, S-parameter, signal flow graph, power gains, stability criteria, stability circles, constant gain circles, constant noise figure circles and high-frequency amplifier design using S-parameter. Numerical design examples and real circuit layouts are also given such that readers can understand the concepts easily.
