Abstract:

This set of notes introduces some fundamental concepts which will be used in the analysis and design of high-frequency networks. These concepts are most useful at those frequencies where distributed rather than lumped parameters must be considered. We discuss transmission line, microstrips, S-parameter, signal flow graph, power gains, stability criteria, stability circles, constant gain circles, constant noise figure circles and high-frequency amplifier design using S-parameter. Numerical design examples and real circuit layouts are also given such that readers can understand the concepts easily. The major content of these notes is extracted from the books stated in the reference section.
